Body-Focused Repetative Disorders/Body-Focused Compulsive Disorders

Ever since I was about 10 years old, I have been biting my nails and fingers. I was really self-conscious about it, but I could never seem to stop. My Dad does it too, so after a while, I just sort of came to accept it as a nervous habit. I still bite, to this day.

The Female Voice: Hot or Not?

During my freshman year of high school, I remember clearly the day a friend of mine told me that this guy I had a crush on did not feel the same way. Of course I was disappointed; more than that though, I wanted to know the reasons why he did not reciprocate my feelings! I thought, “Maybe I can change myself and fix the things he doesn’t like!” When my friend told me the reason, however, I was not so confident in my ability to change myself to suit his liking: he thought I had an annoying voice! Four years have passed since then, and I no longer feel slightly self-conscious about my voice. My current boyfriend tells me on a regular basis that my voice is “cute” and asks me to repeat certain words because he finds it endearing

Forgotten Organs

It is curious to know that a human adult is made of 206 bones yet we don’t pay much attention to them. Bones are made up by tissues on the inside an outside of its structure. Each tissue accomplishes different functions that are vital for the human anatomy. Also they provide the structure of the human body, without them we would be gelatinous. Bones do not only support our body and protect some organs but also produce red and white blood cells and store minerals. In fact bones are organs.

Why is water essential to life?
Nearly two months ago a satellite called Lcross crashed into the moon’s surface as part of a NASA experiment attempting to find water on the moon. The Lcross scientists hoped that locating and studying water on the moon will significantly aid in our understanding of the environment and conditions of the moon (1).

How Have Our Ancestors Shaped Female Mate Selection?

How has evolution shaped mate preferences for human females? Everyday women are subconsciously drawn to specific key signals when looking for a mate. The traits females find attractive go back to the time of our prehistoric ancestors. The biological need to reproduce healthy children was the driving force that determined a favorable mate from an unfavorable mate. Because reproduction was a priority it came to be that highly sought after mates were ones that possessed strong indicators of healthy genes.
