sit spot II

I finished this just now after reflecting on my pre/post hurricane visit to my sit spot and seeing my family this weekend.

This summer
and these leaves
have kissed goodbye.

Why did they yield
to the searching howls
of new wind?

Did they decide
that their gentle rustles
were not enough?

Perhaps.

Around here,
we have all always known
that change is coming.

I fight it
because

I am not this summer
and not these leaves,

but perhaps
I know it is good.
