Sleep Paralysis: Awake But Still Asleep

Hiro Takahashi

A person may wake up and find himself unable to move or speak as if he is frozen. He also may hear footsteps, see a ghost-like creature, or feel someone sitting on his chest. Throughout the history, people considered this phenomenon as work done by evil spirits. However, the modern science can explain the terrifying event as a Sleep Paralysis.

A Sleep Paralysis is possibly a hereditary disorder in which one experiences very frightening seconds or minutes of total body paralysis with little respiration and eye movements (1). A victim in this state feels awake, but he cannot move or speak (2). In addition to the immobility, the common symptoms include feeling choked or suffocated, hearing strange noises like footsteps and voices, seeing beings or dark shadows, and feeling an existance of someone in the room (1). Although these symptoms often direct the victims to believe in ghosts, mistransmission of neural signals in the brain causes Sleep Paralysis. When a person sleeps, his brain sends signals to inhibit any muscle contraction (3). If he comes into consciousness before the brain sends signals to activate muscle contraction, he cannot move his body, and consequently, become "paralyzed"(2).

In order to understand how a body becomes paralyzed while the person is awake, it is necessary to understand sleep cycles. In a mammalian sleep, the brain activity undergoes two different states called non-REM (NREM) sleep and REM sleep, which differ very much from wakefulness (3). NREM and REM sleep alternate cyclically through the night; in human, about 80 minutes of NREM sleep starts a night of sleep, about 10 minutes of REM sleep follows, and this 90 minute cycle is repeated about 3 to 6 times during the night (3). During NREM sleep, a body produces few movement, but the body has capability of tossing about in bed and producing some other motor events, such as sleepwalking and sleeptalking (3). The cardiac-muscle contraction and breathing occur at a uniform rate, and the eyes move slowly (2). During REM sleep, on the other hand, heart rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure vary (3). The eyes move rapidly because most dreaming takes place in this period, and the sleeper probably "look" at the moving objects in a dream (2).

The brain's control over muscles during REM sleep points out that in this period, a body is normally in the state of total paralysis, called a "nonreciprocal flaccid paralysis" (3). Probably to prevent a person from "acting out" a dream, the brain sends signals to inhibit any muscle contractions (2). Although some peripheral muscles, such as the muscles of the fingers and face, still twitch, the large skeletal muscles become relaxed, or "paralyzed" as a result (3). Some evidence supports that the motor paralysis of REM sleep protect against the acting out of one's dreams. A patient who suffers from rare syndrome called REM Sleep Behavior Disorder lacks the normal nonreciprocal flaccid paralysis, and he acts out violent dreams during REM sleep, often with injurious consequences (4). For example, a 60-year-old surgeon dreamt that he was attacked "by criminals, terrorists, and monsters who always tried to kill [him]" and fighting against them in the nightmare, he was actually punching and kicking his wife who slept in the same bed (4).

A nonreciprocal flaccid paralysis during REM sleep is accomplished actively by postsynaptic inhibition of motorneurons (3). Although the exact process of motor inhibition is not clear, some neurotransmitters and hormones are known to generate the many components of REM sleep. Aministering physostigmine, an inhibitor of the catabolic enzyme, increases the concentration of acetylcholine within the neurons in the pons, making it possible to artificially generate and start REM sleep in the middle of NREM sleep (3). Carbachol, the cholinergic agonist, produces a period of REM sleep in cat when directly injected into the pontine tegmentum (3). The hormone melatonin, a "master hormone" (5) that mainly controls circadian rhythms, also seems to play an important role in enhancing the REM state; the level of melatonin secretion by the pineal gland reaches its lowest during REM sleep (5). Such neurotransmitters and hormones probably activate or inhibit the activity of second messengers, which then activate or inhibit the third messengers, and so on till the last messenger inhibit the synaptic transmission or cause hyperpolarization of the motorneurons. And if, for some reason, the nervous or endocrine system continues to release the neural inhibitors, a person may experience Sleep Paralysis as he enters awakefully into or awakens directly from REM period (2).

While the modern neuroscience can describe the state of Sleep Paralysis as some errors of the neural transmission in the brain during REM sleep, a person who has seen or heard ghost-like figures/voices may easily believe that eveil spirits fully controlled his entire body. However, the images or noises, which the victim believes that he has seen or heard, are most likely hallucinations; and hallucinations, too, can result from the brain activity. In the 1960's, the Canadian neurologist W. Penfield introduced that electrical stimulation of the temporal lobe can cause the auditory hallucinations in the wake state (5). The buzzing or ringing sounds in the ears and other auditory hallucinations are closely associated with the activity of the auditory cortex and involves the temporal lobe (5). During the early period of sleep paralysis, the activity of the temporal lobe increases significantly, sometimes inducing hallucinatory sense (5). Similarly, the visual cortex generates internal visual stimuli, causing the victim to "see" terrifying figures during the paralysis (5).

How an episode of Sleep Paralysis induces visual or auditory hallucinations is still not clear, but it seems to have a significant relationship with anxiety (5). For anxiety is a neurocognitive event closely related to both psychological and physical processes, the extreme anxiety or panic may cause the release of several different signal molecules that trigger all kinds of physical events (5). A person experiencing Sleep Paralysis feels mortal fear or extreme panic, and hence, the brain generates and releases internal visual or auditory stimuli, producing hallucinations.

Also, hallucinations during Sleep Paralysis may happen, for one keeps dreaming even after some parts of his brain wakes up directly from REM sleep. Since the nervous and endocrine systems continue to release the neural inhibitors which sustain the paralysis, it may be possible that those systems keep releasing the neural activators that stimulate dreaming. Thus, a person continues to "see" the images and "hear" the noises produced in the dream that he has just had in REM sleep from which he has awaken.

Understanding more neural concepts of Sleep Paralysis, some researchers now hypothesize that a very rare condition called Sudden Unexplained Nocturnal Death Syndrome (SUNDS) may closely relate to Sleep Paralysis (1). Upon the death, a SUNDS victim produces no body movement even though he experiences a myocardial infarction and strong breathing difficulties and should straggle in agony (5). The death may be caused by the extreme muscle atonia during Sleep Paralysis, which is so severe that even the cardiac muscles and the diaghragm paralyze (5).

Until I started researching on this subject, I have believed that the total paralysis of a body is due to an evil taking absolute control over the body. However, the interactions between neurons in the brain can explain this seemingly mysterious phenomenon in a scientific way. Although the explanation is not complete yet, for there are many unclear processes about Sleep Paralysis, the current hypothesis appears to reject the possibility of ghosts on this matter. Of course, it is impossible to completely disprove the existence of "spirits", "minds", or "God" affecting one's behavior. Nevertheless, like Sleep Paralysis and SUNDS, many or the mysterious conditions and behaviors which are only explained in supernatural terms probably result from brain.

I have been trying to figure out what was going on in my sleep untill i read this. Now i am happy to know what my body was expeiencing. It's quite scary your first couple experiences of sleep paralysis but now i'm gonna stay calm when it is happening to me and try to get my own understanding of the experience ... I have had sleep paralyisis at least once per month for the last 8 years. I am 29 as of this writing. I just had the experience about 1 hour ago and thus has caused me to do reasearch about it on the net. I noticed that many Dr.'s contribute this to anxiety, stress and other factors. My question is ... why is there always an evil presence in that concious yet body is still asleep phase? Today I heard a loud static sound, and opened my eyes to a spider crawling all over my arm. When I prayed to God, or said His name (Jehovah) the spider would start to disappear. I finally went thru my mental prayer when I awoke. This leads me to believe that it is more of a spiritual occurence, because I never have positive images while in this paralized state. I know there are many things in which our ancestors thought it was demonic rather than scientific, only to find there was a scientific explanation. However, I think this is different and cannot be simply written off as "scientific". There is not enough proof to show that it is scientific.

About a month ago I had another episode of sleep paralysis and I saw a small presence in the room with me. It was dark, and I could not see it's face (I am getting chills typing about it right now). My question is, why is there always an evil presence not only associated with my episodes, but so many others I have read about? ... Abel, 24 August 2006

i was thinking it is evil who do that during night but now i find out why. I am suffering from sleep paralyze possibly every nigh spicily when i have dinar ... Salah Nasser, 28 January 2007

I used to have this sleeping disorder when I was a child.  It has come back once or twice with adulthood, but otherwise, it is in the past.  I used to, with great effort, move my hand to my face and pull an eye open, which would wake me up, but sometimes the struggle was too much and I would go on into a deeper sleep.

Since the brain can do this to me, can it also cause me to get migraines just as I am about to wake up?

It seems, as I have discovered, if I get less than 4 hours sleep a night, I do not get migraines.  If I get 6 hours or more, it's about a 90% chance I will wake with a migraine.  Later in the day, I get an hour or two nap and that is the routine as it works.  Doctors just sort of treat the migraine and don't get into the sleep thing I have.  I take MaxAult for the migraines when they do get me.

I woke one time, and just as I woke, I felt this white-hot needle going into my head... bingo.  A migraine in 5 seconds.  That is how they can occur.  I wake with them otherwise.  I figure it my brain doing things it shouldn't.  I have a clean bill of health otherwise.

Thanks for your time.  Have a good day ... Jay, 11 February 2007

I have a question, and hope someone out there has an answer, it has been months and I have thus far failed to find one.  Has there ever been a record of anyone receiving the effects of sleep paralysis without having been asleep?  The reason I ask this, is a while ago, having not slept in a few hours, I was sitting at my computer, and it seemed to have happened to me. Within seconds I was too tired to hold up my own head, and my breathing got very difficult. Then I began to feel a sort of dizziness as my limbs lost feeling, and dropped to my side. after this, the dizziness turned to near blindness. I could see, but nothing would focus, and everything I tried to look at seemed to dart around like a mosquito. By this time I had no feeling in my entire body, could move nothing without quite a bit of concentration, and I could barely breath.  My mother heard me try and make out some kind of cry for help, and found me there spilled into my computer chair. She rolled me to my bed, and poured me into it. Within about 10-15 minutes I had regained everything I once had, but my sea legs did not ware off for another ten or so minutes.  I went to the emergency soon after. I had an E.K.G. and a C.A.T. scan, with no results, and I piss less in a week then the amount of blood they took that night. After basically telling me I was lying, the doctor told me that my symptoms did not fit anything at all.  What I do know, is I have been researching the issue ever since, and can only base my problem on Sleep Paralysis. All the symptoms match. And again, my question....Has there ever been a record of someone under the effects of sleep paralysis without ever having gone to sleep?  I hope you can shed some sort of light on this subject, as it,...well, it freaked me the hell out, and no one has been able to answer me!  Thank you for your time ... I used get this "evil paralysed me" feeling when i was paralysed and usually saw a ghost. i tried to shout or move but no sound escaped my mouth and couldn't move at all. it happened again yesterday and was almost convinced that ghosts/evil spirits were getting the better of me. But, me being a practical and logical guy, erjected this theory and started researching on this phenomenon. I came across this research paper on Sleep Paralysis. This greatly helped me in alleviating my fears. And next time i "see" a ghost during sleep paralyses, ill just laugh at it ;-)  Thanks for the research ... Siddarth, 10 December 2007

not too worried

I'm now 21 and I've been having this experience since I was young. Although, when I was young, i didn't experience this very often compared now (perhaps because i get regular sleep every night due to my parents forcing me to go to sleep at the same time every night). When I think about my experiences back then, i remember lying down, sleeping but awake, hopeless, and i couldn't do anything. I even remember trying to call my mom's name hoping i could wake her up so she can wake me up but it didn't work because i could only mutter a very silent cry. But as I grew up and getting more experience on this strange brain phenomenon, i found myself being able to learn how to cope with it. I learned to focus all my energy on my eyes, (closing my eyes for about 2 seconds, then suddenly opening them) doing so will force myself to wake up from that scary state. When this happens to me at night, it repeats itself 4 or 5 times then it eventually goes away.
Now that i'm older, i find this happening to me more often than before (mostly on sunday nights). i think that happens because I drive back to my house every sunday night for 3 hours, then i'll go to sleep straight after that. (sleeping w/ overactive mind?)
but now, i'm kinda became pro at it that i'll just make a small twitching movement with my eyes and my upper body and i'll be able to wake myself up whenever it happens without too much struggle compared before. I've also noticed that whenever i'm sleep paralyzed, i can still somehow open my eyes a little bit, and i can see anything in my line of sight. (but no hallucinations thank God).
In addition, because i'm not too scared of this anymore, while i'm in a sleep paralyzed state, i've started to try to just sleep it off, but have been unsuccessful so far. Its because when i'm sleep paralyzed, there's this sort of strange stuff going through my head (not voices or anything), but just this strange force that seems to be going through my brain glands or whatever, i can always feel it physically moving in my brain and it keeps me from just dozing off to sleep (because its very uncomfortable) till I decide to just wake myself up. I would repeat this 4 or 5 times when i experience sleep paralysis (but always unsuccessful) until I'm able to go to sleep without experiencing it

I'm 17 and I had the worst

I'm 17 and I had the worst experience with this last night. I would start to doze off and then I would become paralyzed. I would concentrate on moving my arm and eventually wake up, but when I would try to sleep it would happen again. It happened about 4 times but would only last a couple of minutes. I can remember saying dear god and this thing shouted I am not god, it felt like something had hit me and then I woke up. I tried telling me dad but he doesn't think it's anything serious.

mine is really constant & in my DNA'' which am more afraid of!

all of you who are experiencing this sleep paralysis' please always be aware''all do i don't know how you have yours - it doesn't matter what ever it is during paralysis, always pray because once your in this position no science can go to your home and wake you up- but God will always be with us no matter what''

I am 31 y/o- and i am having this sleep paralysis since i was a little kid and it always happen the same way' and it only happens every time the sun rises''

growing up with this, it isn't pleasant at all' it is very very scary'' why? two brothers died because of this' and there both my 1st cousin, so for me this are genetic ( DNA )'' so it's scary''
my 1st cousin died @ age 20 because of this' sleep paralysis - he wasn't able to wake up'' and
in 2009 his Brother died at age 14 the same way,
now this is why am scared it's in our DNA''

and since i know when and how do i get my paralysis I have been avoiding sleeping day time no naps' at noon and no going back to sleep if i wake up early in the morning'' and I have been doing this since at a young age'

but once in a while i would have this only when i don't not have sleep through the whole night' and ended up falling asleep when it's already morning-
and every time i have this it feels like a dream but it' isn't and during my paralysis is always the same' noises around me or somebody i know are talking and i would start asking them to please wake me up many time and if no one listen to me then then i would realize that I'm having the paralysis and no body is around those are just fragments of what my consciousness trying to do in order for me to be able to wake up once i realize that i would start crying and start praying and asking God to please help me wake up'' and it always works- i would wake up with tears in my eyes''

today I' have it again because i wasn't able to have sleep the whole night and i ended up falling asleep at 7:am and this time it took longer and wake up with a dry through.,
then i have come to understand a little bet, that the longer for me to have the paralysis I will get dehydrated' and maybe then could died from that,
now i have a feeling that my two cousin had them longer and ended up dehydrated-

for all of you who are having this''' always remember to Pray because God is always with us" what ever where do where ever we are''
stay safe everyone!

get some help

From what I read before disruptions in the normal sleep cycle and sleep deprivation are some causes of sleep paralysis. Don't avoid getting to sleep it will aggravate the condition.

If you're afraid of getting to sleep, ask professional help. Go to a sleep specialist and they will monitor your sleep. They may find out the cause of your SP. They will know when you're having SP because it shows in your activity in their monitors.

I got this this morning.

I got this this morning. first time in a long while. when I get it, I can "see" my room just a bit as if my eyes were open. I only see the room around me. I was telling myself if I try really hard I can wake up but I just couldn't do it. I heard my mom talking but she had gone to work hours earlier. I finally woke up. I had taken nyquil that night and had a nightmare a few hours earlier. wondering if there is any connection there? I've never really felt any evil or anything. that's creepy and I hope mine stays as innocent as it is. just sharing my experience.

Continuous Sleep Paralysis

I just experienced sleep paralysis this morning so I began researching on the internet and saw this website. My mom told me that it will disappear if I just wake up, take a walk, and then sleep again. That's not the case for me because when I go back to sleep again, I'm back to the sleep paralysis state. It's either I can feel like something or someone is sitting on top of my chest, or there is the presence of another being. I usually say a prayer when I am in the sleep paralysis state and after that, I can wake up again. Has anyone experienced this before?

I HAD 1 LAST NIGHT AND I WAS

I HAD 1 LAST NIGHT AND I WAS TERRIFIED I WAS DREAMING LIKE I ALWAYS DO I REMEMBER LIKE 90PERCENT OF MY DREAMS ANYWAY FOR SOME REASON I WAS DREAMING ABOUT A EVIL SPIRIT (A FEMALE SPIRIT) I WAS TAUNTING IT FOR SOME ODD REASON I WOKE UP I WAS COOL FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS THEN THE EVIL FEELING CAME I WAS SCARED AS HELL SAYING TO MYSELF NOT THIS AGAIN CUZ I JUS HAD 1 ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO.I TOLD MYSELF DO NOT TURN AROUND DO NOT TURN AROUND THE FEELING WAS OVERWHELMING ALMOST THEN IT FELT LIKE SUMTHING WAS PUSHING DWN ON THE COUCH LITTERALLY RIGHT BEHIND WHERE I WAS LAYING I WAS TERRIFIED I COULDNT BELIEVE I WAS FEELING THAT. THEN SOMTHING CAME AROUND ALMOST TO WHERE I WAS FACING AND I TRIED TO KICK IT BUT I KICKED THE COUCH.

It's so sad to me how ppl try

It's so sad to me how ppl try to explain this away in a natural way when it is purely spiritual. This is not sleep paralysis. This has happened to me 3 or 4 times in my life, it's been awhile since the last encounter with it. Although I have never seen the entity I can feel the evil and see it from where ever it enters and travels into the room I am in. Once I saw it outside. How could I look through the window to see outside if I was sleep? It was my spirit that was experiencing this. When it gets to my room it pushes me down and hovers over me to where I can't move or talk. But I can still think. And in each case I repeat "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus" over and over again in my mind until it leaves. I know it is evil because it's very evident to me that there is something there and it is NOT human and it does not mean me any good. It is evil. And it is not my imagination. Demons desire to oppress and to use there influence over us. But if you know the name of the one who has power over all of these evil beings then you are covered. Do not be deceived to believe that it is nothing and to not fight. Resist this thing ppl. You're instincts will never lead you wrong. It IS what it appears to be. And once this happens to you then understand that the enemy is desiring to have you and pray over yourself to God above in Jesus name. Because that is the only name that has power to make the enemy flee. Pray for yourself that God will protect you and cover you and believe that it is done and rest in that protection. And once you belong to Jesus then Satan has no authority to do whatever he desires to do with you.

Sorry to sound so preachy but this truly is a serious matter. And I want you to feel the urgency especially if this is happening to you. There is an attack being made on you. And you need to resist it and be covered by God's power. You have the power to make whatever it is leave in the name of Jesus. May God bless anyone reading this message.

Wishing you all well.

I don't know if I'm awake or not

It happened last night . I was sleeping as normal I woke up and I could barely move just a little and then I couldn't move at all. then I wanted to scream so I tried to scream "mom" but nothing came out. I felt pressure on me, I was so scared. And then I saw a black tall ish figure and then I woke up I think? I'm not sure if I woke up or I just got up. I'm thirteen and this is the first time this has ever happened to me I think. I think this actually has happened to me when I was younger I think it's hard to remember. I do not believe its sleep paralysis I believe it's aliens . I wake up with weird triangular marks on me. I'm really scared. Help

Brad's picture

These are not alien.

Hi Lily, read what the above post says, because that is the truth. These aren't aliens, they are demons, but you don't have to be afraid of them! They cannot harm you, they are only doing it to scare you. The triangular marks are a symbol of satan. Have you ever played with wigi boards or have anything that could be satanic in your house, or ornaments around the house that look strange? Are your parents into any kind of spiritualism, yoga, or are Buddhists etc..?

The next time this happens, ask God to help you or say 'leave in the name of Jesus', this will stop them from doing anything and you will wake up. This will help. I am sad to hear you are so young to be experiencing this, but God loves you and he wants to help you. God Bless Lily :)

Hi! Im David Lamar 25 yrs old

Hi! Im David Lamar 25 yrs old - I suffer ALL of the horrible things that happen when I have SP - this happens every time I lay on my back.. I’ve had it since I was a kid.. I remember the first time this happened to me I was about 12 or 13 and I felt someone standing at the foot of my bed.. it was like a bad dream but only I KNEW I was awake.. I tried to scream.. nothing came out.. I tried to move as the presence got closer to my bed.. I thought it was THE end of my life.. the more I fought to awaken the more I stayed frozen. I really thought it was either the grim reaper or a real actual ghost. It was absolutely terrifying! As I lay there about to die from a heart attack the presence came up to the head of my bed reached out and GRABBED MY ARM! That was all it took. I screamed louder then I have EVER screamed before and somehow I flew out of this paralyzed state. Within seconds my mother father and brother was next to my bed trying to see what was wrong.

Then a light bulb went off as I was telling them what happened.. My mother said it was a dream.. but I knew it was not a dream and I could still feel the place where it grabbed my arm.. so about the light bulb.. I was almost sure that it must have been my brother trying to scare me.. but he swore up and down that he was sleep the whole time..

That was the first time that happened… of course I didn’t know what happened and everyone thought I was crazy and was just having a really bad dream.. but the second time it happened.. again I was sleeping on my back and I realized when I sleep on my back this happens.. so that was the LAST time I have EVER slept on my back.

In the later years when I lay on my back and I start to drift off into sleep I can feel myself starting to become paralyzed almost instantly and I always jerk myself awake and turn over – I finally talked to my brother about this and he informed me he has the EXACT same issue when he sleeps on his back.. so I finally realized I was not crazy.. then maybe when I was 23 or 24 I googled my problem and realized it was SP. I’m so glad that now I have a full understanding of what this is

SP is natural

Hi, i am 19 and i experience sleep paralysis quite often. I find it to be a very relaxing experience, since i'm used to it i know i can sleep 2 hours a night and felt like i've slept 8. No bad dreams or terryfing experiences have ever happened to me. Also i never had any hallucinations. Waking after just makes one feel completely rejuvenated as if the body had been sleeping for a long time.
You shouldn't fear SP, try getting things in your mind straight and achieve a good balance. Since everything happens in your head, you can control it.

David Lamar's picture

I actually tried to do this

I actually tried to do this last night.. this happens to me when I sleep on my back.. and it freaks me out! So I said to myself oh this is natural and i cant die.. so i tried to lay on my back and as i felt myself become frozen i just couldnt let it take over and i kept jerking away..but im all about feeling rejuvenated when i wake up as i never do.. so if you can do it im sure i can as well

trouble waking up

Hi my name is John a 33yr old young man. I was talking with my Dad over dinner tonight about his arthritis in his hip and neck. Recently he had a checkup and the doctor left a message on the answering machine for him to call back. He said he had a xray on his hip and he told me about arthritis in his neck and hip so this scared me a bit because I dont want him to fall into a coma because of blood not circulating to his brain because of the arthritis in his neck and he assured me it would not cause that and he has already gotten it done on his neck before. I asked him what it was called when you have problems waking up. He said it was called something I forgot what he called it so im searching the web for that reason.

I have been having sleep paralysis since a small child. Back then I had a small 13" black and white tv that I would leave on as a night light on a channel with bar codes on it and at 4am the channel would come back on to the american flag getting raised and id wake up to get to see it. I was given my parents room when the house had a room addition. The closet doors are mirrior along the wall at the foot of the bed where the door was. My bed was blue wooden post about 3' and had nothing under it. I had terrible nightmares about gremlins. This I believe was before that movie was out believe it or not. These gremlins would reach for me from underneith my bed and take pull my mother from me. The tv really helped me get over that dream. Before the time I slept in this room I had snuck into my parents bed at night because of ghosts and I mean like hundreds of ghosts all moving around everywhere in the halls to my parents room. I sucked my right thumb at night to a late age when friends came to visit relatives they would pull it out of my mouth when sleeping out on the couch. My sister quit sucking hers sometime in elementry school but I waited it because it helped me feel better while sleeping. Up till about 9th grade I gave sucking my thumb up considering my age and because of cigarettes. For about a year I smoked in my teens.

There was a time in the past year or two I had a really bad time sleeping I will not forget. A small demon would attack me by getting on my chest or by the door or moving to places next to me or by making my lips move. The demon would not let me sleep and I would barely get my eyes open to see it was in fact there with me it would not allow me to calmly fall back to sleep like it wanted me to be there with it over and over like I was stuck in time. I can only count a couple of the times I would wake up to it but this was the worst dream ever in my life. Repeating with this small tree shaped like demon that would make my lips say weird things to wake me up or make it hard for me to breath with loud snore sounds. After not being able to move in my sleep or open my eyes or even shout or call for help. Gotten tired of getting abused by it and put my hands together in a cross with my fingers and aimed it at him and after that I woke up for the last time for real and I knew it was just a dream and in the corner where it was at was a pile of clothes in a laundry basket. It was so releaving and I am sure God had a huge roll saving me out of this demons trance of multiple dreams in a row because I was so worn out and tried so many ways to wake up for the last time.

Couple of weeks ago I did have trouble getting myself to open my eyes and get up and the only thing I could do was breath so I did that until I was asleep. This has always been my number one cure for being awake without my eyes open. "Going back to sleep." Weeks after that I had to move my arm and pry my eyes open to wake. Which wasnt that long ago. Nothing I did was religious but after reading about this as something evil im seriously thinking about calling up Jesus to help me next time. I was only splashed by the water for my baptism but I recall being baptised years before my sister was dunked. But it was at such a young age when all of us went to church and sit in the back room so we could draw while at preach. I'm having trouble remembering if I even was baptised from sin.

Thank you because asking for Gods help was forgotten until coming accross this site and reading your post.

Awesome!

Hi John, I just read your post. And I am assuming from what you said in your last paragraph that you were talking about my post (the one titled "The answer to your problems and the cure for this") otherwise this is very embarrassing :) but anyways..

I had this problem for quite a while during my teens with similar symptoms that you had; not being able to move, breathe, speak or call for help. The worst episode I had was when I did call on the name of Jesus for help when I was 'under attack' and I heard a growling sound coming from this demon and it was quite audible and not me dreaming or imagining it. I also saw like a fire as if I was looking directly inside a volcano or something like it, even though my eyes were not opened. This terrified me because I was quite young and didn't have a lot of understanding of this, all I knew was that I needed to tell this thing to leave in the name of Jesus because of what my mother told me to do (as she experienced the same as a kid, but a lot worse!). And this demon got angry because I was telling it to leave, hence the growling, and I felt it leave immediately and then I woke up. This is now how I know that it is not just something that happens to people, it is an attack from the devil, and it is done purely to scare us.

A good idea would be to re-dedicate your life to God and get baptised again since you say you are unsure of whether you were properly baptised. You do not have to be baptised to be forgiven of your sin though :) simply ask God from your heart to forgive you and he will! God is awesome like that! You don't have to go through all the motions of being baptised to be forgiven etc.. just ask him :)

I hope you listen to what I have said. God brought you here for a reason. He loves you and wants to help you. It was awesome to hear you say "God had a huge roll saving me..." because he did the same for me! I hope this stops and you sleep peacefully. Let me know how things go and progress with this, I love to help :) God Bless.

Sleep Paralysis -

I have been experiencing this for about 4 yrs. I now see a neurologist for other reasons but told him about this. I had 3 sleep studies done. I have been diagnosed with Narcolepsy. While, I do not fall asleep at any given second. I go into REM 30 SECONDS after I fall asleep...usually most people go into REM about 90 minutes after falling asleep. My experiences are extremly frightening. I have learned to try and calm down; but that doesnt always work. Last night around 1am I had the WORST one yet. I usually have paralysis if I sleep on my back (so I try to avoid it)...this time I was on my stomach with my arms by my sides. I was experiencing crazy lucid dreaming,,,I felt that I could control everything....then everything came to a halt...I thought I was being choked...but I couldnt see anyone...I thought I could feel the person...but it was in my head...I was trying to scream...over and over...I could hear my husband snoring...then more panick set in..then it just stopped. I sat up My heart was racing and I started crying...not sure why. The most that happens usually is I hear like scary whispering in my ear...I can never make out what is being said. Usually mine stops after a minute or so. This is by far the scariest feeling in the world.

Feeling the dream and real life at same time, while paralyzed.

i finally found the cause.. well its prety similar to what happens to me. i feel like i cant move my body but i can open the eyes a little bit and see the pillow/blanket thats in my visual range and DREAM somethin else at the same time. i usually dream stupid things or scary stuff like hearing strange noises and when i was little i dreamed monsters and creatures as well. i have experienced sleeping paralysis since i was 7 and now im 13. yesterday i almost had a heart attack becaause of this. and then my pulse kept being high for 7-8 hours. and i was still in a little shock. what i feel is that i dream something thats blacked out and at the same time i can actualy see the real things in real life as well, but my body still feels paralyzed. and when i really dont wanna continue dreamin i have to somehow mentally struggle my brain and muscles to move and wake up. seeing and feeling in all the ways TWO things at the same time, its like im between the dream world and real world. thanks for the article tho i love it. respect.

Sleep paralysis

Im 24 and 2 days ago had my first experiance with sleep paralysis, I had read about it before and thought is was very strange, Ive never had a problem with nightmares and rarely remember any part of my dreams, And what I do remember is very mundane and has to do with day to day things, And Almost every dream I remember ends up being a source of deja vu days weeks or months later, its very wierd.
The other day I was very tired and laid down for a quick nap, then what felt like seconds later I couldnt breath and couldnt move, I thought I had been poisoned with tetrodotoxin the pufferfish, blue ring octopus venom that causes paralysis, (I had read a book where that was a plot point) I panicked the first time and after what felt like an eternity I accepted I was dying and then was able to move, I thought I sat up but immediately found myself on my back not breathing and not moving, this time the fear only lasted a few seconds and then I was fine this happened about 15 more times only I wasnt afraid because I knew I was fine, It was the single strangest thing that has happened to me,
I dont know why I was so terrified, A few years ago I spent 2 months in a coma and was technically dead twice, I remember alot of being trapped and in pain, I remember what can only be described as out of body experiences,I remember the "dream worlds" that I escaped to, 5 of them, but i dont remember any fear. I know I could hear what was going on becasue, After I "woke" I asked about specific things that happened around me when I was In the coma, And knew about things that were discussed around me.
If this is happening to you dont be afraid its much worse that way, I know its hard to calm yourself down after your adrenaline hits but you can do it and after I knew what to do I was actually able to stand and not just think I was.

The answer to your problems and the cure for this.

How many people on here have described that the presence they experience is evil? Almost everyone. So why if this is just any other problem is it a negative experience rather than a positive one? I experienced this problem for a very long time as a teenager and every time it happened I would pray (yes I am a Christian, so what) and wake up immediately. It stopped happening as soon I was baptised and have heard tons of similar testimonies from people who all say the same thing, so how can you explain that? Everyone says that the answer to the problem is stay calm and it will be okay. True, Why do we have to stay calm in the first place?! It is because it is fear that makes this experience a negative one. So why fear and where does it come from? Well, first of all, in my experience, whenever this happened, it felt as if there was someone right in front of my face looking at me as I was sleeping. It honestly scared me. We all naturally have a sense when something or someone is in a room when we can't see anything whilst we are awake which everyone has, so of course we will still have that same sense during this 'sleep paralysis', because our mind is conscious, awake and aware of what is happening, otherwise it may as well just be a dream. So the reason for this fear, 'is evil', it is a demon trying to scare you although it cannot and does not have the authority to harm you in any way, so don't try and lean on your own understanding of this if you don't believe in what I am telling you and try and figure out some logical answer for this from a scientific viewpoint, because I am giving you the answer! There is a realm of the spiritual, and in this sleep paralysis state, your spirit is fully aware of what is around you and what is attacking you!

So here is the answer you have been waiting for. Jesus. Say his name the next time this happens to you. Call on him to help you, and he will, guaranteed. There is power in his name. These demons will flee from you like lightning falls out the sky! They are scared of Jesus. Jesus gave us the authority when he died on the cross to tell these demons to leave us, because it was on the cross that he defeated evil once and for all. He LOVES YOU and doesn't want anyone to go through this. Trust me. Even if you don't believe me, just try it, there's no harm in trying right? I did this every time it happened, and although I did not always necessarily wake up, immediately that evil presence changed to a loving, peaceful, powerful presence. I hope you read this, God loves you and wants to know you and help you. Let me know what happens and what you think/feel. If you have any questions, feel free to reply and I will happily answer. God bless, and sleep well!

Sleeping with demons

I had what I think was my first experience of this around 6 months ago. I remember the fight of the presence and the feeling of this something evil trying to pull my spirit body out of my chest. I screamed in my sleep state"no, I'm Christian, you can't". It immediately left and then my minds eye saw the word OMEGA. I woke the next day baffled, scared and thought I was going loony. It happened again about a week later with this evil something actually walking on my bed. I could see it even though my eyes were closed and I could not move. I heard a loud rushing noise also in my head. I forced myself to wiggle my fingers and it stopped. I actually feel this vibrational feeling as a warning that it's starting to happen. I tried to feel my body and there is a definite separation happening where my spirit body seems to start to leave my flesh body. That vibrational feeling happens with it. I'm convinced there is a spiritual aspect to this as well. All too much common stuff with the mention of god or Christianity helping. I now am also piecing together some childhood experiences that were dismissed as 'my vivid imagination' back then. I had visions, psychic episodes of precognition and saw a guardian angel. Maybe not just imaginations of a young child after all.

Brad's picture

Wow

Oh wow, I think it's amazing that you saw the word 'Omega'. God was obviously speaking to you there. He was probably telling you that he is going to end your SP once and for all.

Why do think you had those "visions, psychic episodes" as a child?

its not sleep paralysis

I've been going thru this for 20 years more or less. Although I respect this scientific explanation, I have to say that I don't think all of us are expiriencing sleep paralysis. For one, I never lose complete mobility. I can always move and talk even see in the beginning of these "dreams". So its not like I wake up before my brain sends messages to the body. Its only after a short while that I actually acquire that tantalizing fear and BEGIN TO LOSE MY MOTOR AND VISIONARY SKILLS. Its the opposite of sleep paralysis. Then there's the fact that this "dream" always takes place in different places. Sometimes even places I've never been. But lastly, how could you possibly begin to explain why I wake up with marks on me. Sratches, bruises, puncture wounds, even 2nd degree Burns. Doctors haven't ever given me answers of what they think happened. Its been the same thing since I was 6 years old. Please explain it to me. I want someones opinion. I already know what it is but I want to hear what you think. My name is jenevie

John Crist's picture

It is called a lucid dream

It is called a lucid dream and it is also a disorder related to SP.

Serendip Visitor's picture

Lucid Dream

A Lucid Dream is nothing compared to a Sleep Paralysis. When you are Lucid dreaming, meaning you are NOT awake you are sleeping, accept that you are actually acknowledging that you are dreaming. Having a Sleep Paralysis is when you are fully awake fighting to get out of being paralyzed, and hallucinating, not dreaming. They are two very complete different things. I'm just saying. Because we do recognized that we are not dreaming and wide awake, we cannot move our body, have trouble breathing, and not even make a sound from our voices. I even wake up from my sleep into a SP. So there is no way this can relate. Sorry if I killed it. =/ But really I just had to say because they are actually two very complete different things if you read their meanings.

Serendip Visitor's picture

Hi Jenevie :)

Hi Jenevie, this sounds absolutely terrible and I am sad to hear you are going through this. I just have one question, have you ever been involved in the occult, spiritual readings, been to fortune tellers etc, or been heavily into drugs at all?

Bradley

Serendip Visitor's picture

Bradly

Hi bradly my names Neal. I've had this go on for over a year now and I was heavily into drugs what do you thinks going On?

Brad's picture

Hi Neal

Hi Neal, thanks for your message. Being a Christian, I have learnt that people who are into the occult or spiritually related/influenced things and people who have been on drugs are more prone to get SP. This is because they have opened the door to attack from demons through what they are doing or have done. I don't know if you believe in God or not but if you want peace from this then you have to ask forgiveness from God for that time you were taking drugs as well as anything else you have done. I understand this can sound strange to someone who doesn't believe in God but this is a spiritual attack and so we need a spiritual defence against this. That defence is God. The next time it happens call on God to help you and he will. A lot of people on here are having the same experience and are calling on God to help them and it works, so whether or not you believe in God, this will help you, because I believe in God and I know he loves you and he wants to help. I know this will help you Neal, I can understand that this can be difficult having gone through it myself, but I don't get it any more, because God saved me from it. Thank you for your message and sleep well.

Experiencing this problem for over 13 years now

Hi Purshotam,

Based on my experience, it is common that you feel little better when you change your bed, room or your sleeping position. I am not sure why ur wife and other relatives are experiencing the same thing. Age has nothing to do this. I am now 36 and i started feeling "sleep paralyze" when i was about 23 but my wife has not felt it so far.
You will be wrong if u think u need to see some pandit or tantra and mantra. Just try to be as relaxed as u can during this phase and it will be alright. You will hard time if you try to fight. No one knows the exact reason why this happens.

To all who are reading this... I get very strong sleeping paralyze when I am very tired and or I have consumed good amount of alcohol. It seems like this ghost or whatever it is doesn't like your body tired and alcoholic. I get very good night sleep when I take very light supper.
God Bless All,
Amrit @ London

modify your dream

i am completely agree with you . once you know that you are dreaming you can modify it . do whatever you want to do :D .
i spent my all night just reading the comments of all the people . it really make me sure that there has to be some spiritual connection between us and this dream . almost everyone said that pray pray pray and yes pray is the best solution for it but i also did so many other experiments with myself .. :p . even if i don't pray just a little struggling and enjoying the situation that thing will leave you alone :D . whatever that thing is they never harm you physically . they just attack you mentally . like everyone said we don't need any medicine or treatment . all we just need is to cool and calm in that condition remember God :) .
but for you & me we both enjoy this ... best of luck people . if someone is reading my comment please just let me know the exact reason why these dreams appears only in our life ?

The reverse sleep paralysis??

Interesting article, made me giggle at some parts too :)
Anyway, I would like to share my experiences of something that happens to me time to time that sort of reminds me of Sleep Paralysis which I am also getting pretty often. Unfortunately.
Recently my sleep regime has been quite messed up as I wake up after 12 noon and go to bed at 3 or 4 am. I had to wake up at 8 am so I tried to force myself to sleep at 2 am. Also, I was feeling anxiety incl. heart pounding and some shivering as I had to attend an important meeting the following morning but that's how I always react to stress.
I felt kind of sleepy and just closed my eyes and tried to calm down. The weird thing started as I could clearly feel the sleep taking over my body, almost the same body experience as sleep paralysis when mind is awake n body feels numb. It felt like my mind was sinking, I did not see anything, just dark as my eyes were closed and there was a clear sense of fear and I forced myself to wake up which did not come easy same as with the original sleep paralysis. (continued)
Problem 1
* What basically happens is my body falls asleep before my mind does and it is scary.
This thing has happened to me maybe 20 times in total during 4 years, sometimes couple of them in the same night when I just go to bed. Once, I thought maybe I should let it go it's way and do not force myself to wake up (YES - that's what I figured out during the experience, when my brain was awake, body drifting in sleep), but it felt so terrible that I woke myself up again as I could not take it anymore. Ever since I am getting this pre-sleep paralysis, especially consecutive ones in the same night, I try to make myself--the body--non sleepy again, like I fight the sleep at that moment and it is hard but helps not getting these experiences that same night again. *
(continues here) In addition to my already stressed mind that night, I was afraid this thing happens again (it's really scary, like when you have adrenaline rush) and probably that is why I woke up at 8 am and felt that I did not sleep at all: my eyes were not rested (after alarm went off I just popped them open as if I just closed them for 1 sec), I do not remember me dreaming, I was not sleepy at all but I also do not recall being awake and just simply lying eyes closed for 6 hrs or so.
Problem 2
* I do not remember being asleep sometimes. The mind and body feeling equals as if I just close my eyes during a normal day like now, for example, and open them right after. I feel no difference, also eyes feel as focused and there are no weird little liquidy/crumbly thing of eye fluids like when you normally wake up you get them in the inner corner of your eyes (sorry, don't know the scientific name for that!). Could that be mind sleeping and the body not? *

Anyone experiencing something similar or knows what and why that is? Just curious.

And also sorry to make this soooo long :D

No recollection of being awake

I just learned that last night I apparently ate pizza, brief visit with my 5 year old neice and looked at an IPAD application. To start I take Ambien, Celexa, a high blood pressure (mild) and a cholesterol (mild) pill every night. 4 days ago I added Phentramin-d (weight loss) to my day. I take it in the morning and the 4 others at night. I refilled all four (not missing a day), but had all new fresh prescriptions last night and took all four around 7:00 - normally don't take til 9:00ish. I called and ordered pizza for my grandson, gave him the $ and laid down to wait on it. I remember absolutely NOTHING but apparently my grandson asked me where was the $, the pizza was here and I sat up and ate 3 pieces, at which time my neice came in and asked if she could have one and was waiting for Nanny to come there to pick her up (10 minutes). I remember nothing about this short span of time. Now around 8:00 I was awaken by the constant ringing of my door bell which was my Mother bringing my dog back as somehow he got out and was down the road. I remember that! I went back to bed and remember watching nothing on tv! What happened to me? Anybody know?

Serendip Visitor's picture

Ambien

I also take ambien and memory loss is quite common according to my doctor, I have to make sure I dont take more than the 2 10mg prescribed or I will do things just like that and not remember, One morning I woke up, and my kitchen cupboards were all rearranged messily and there was a cereal box in the microwave, and my sister said I went to her house a few doors down in the middle of the night asking for a hamburger, the next night I noticed that my prescription was almost gone, I only had a few days left so I took about 8. Ambien is pretty safe in regards to accidently taking too much, but the memory loss and odd behavior could cause some problems.

Deep Dreamer's picture

You may have experienced

You may have experienced amnesia (memory loss) due to your Ambien medication ( side effect). Cut back on your Ambien dosage/strength so you can remember each yummy bite of pizza.

here is my advise!! ( based on my experiments)

the last week i have had this happen to me like almost everyday, and i know exactly why.
I am a very religious person but i can tell you one thing , being in a sleeping paralysis state causes you to hallucinate sometimes. you are in the middle of reality and dream so i can understand how its easy for you to think that your being attacked by demons or whatever...truth is whatever you are experiencing cannot!! i repeat cannot harm you!! in fact , the only thing that will harm you is your fears...
the more you panic the more pointless it is and easy for you to have a big fear of sleeping.
i know i love love my sleep and i'm not gonna let sleeping paralysis take it away from me.so therefore here is what i have learned on this whole sleeping journey..

- you are pretty much in between awareness and dream, thats why you think you have a demon or presents with you in the room. been there many times before. BE FEARLESS AND DON'T PANIC!!

-Ask yourself something there ; " am i a lazy bean?" one of the reasons why this happens to me is because i over sleep...sometimes i wake up and feeling that i don't have a day to look forward to or have nothing planned, so i stay in bed even though i have gotten a good amount of sleep. BAD BAD BAD! never do that.
everytime i do that i end up having a sleeping paralysis attack..i hate it!
WHEN YOU WAKE UP GET OF OF BED TO AVOID GOING TO SLEEP AGAIN< BECAUSE YOUR BODY IS NOT TIRED anymore DOnt CHARGE IT AGAIN.THAT'S WHY YOU GET A SLEEPING PARALYSIS EPISODE oversleeping is very very bad!!!

- do you get into activity? get in the habit of exercising asap!! if you dont.
you dont have to do anything special. but anything will help... im not much of a sporty guy, im pretty fit and proportionate slightly muscular but believe it or not i don't exercise much, in fact the last 8 months iv been just sitting ,unemployed and not doing much...i changed that and it helps A LOT A LOT A LOT !! if you are lazy please listen to that little voice inside your head telling you to get off your as* and take a long walk or something...whatever sport you like; do it! if you don't know any here are some of my suggestion, you dont need no fancy personal trainer to motivate you, JOG, GET A BIKE AND GO SITE SEEING, PLAY TENNIS ( 9 out of 10 of people playing tennis in the park or tennis court in you complex dont know how to professionally play) but hitting the ball and trying to pretend you do how to play gives you a form of exercise! GO SWIMMING IN YOUR COMMUNITY POOL...ITS ALSO A BIG PLUS IF YOU LIKE BASEBALL, BASKETBALL,SOCCER,SOFTBALL,FOOTBALL AND SO ON... start playing again, at lease 2 to 3 times a week... it will litterally cut this hole paralysis thing of by 80%..
people!! only our house pets can sleep all day again and again, god did'nt create us to sit down on a couch and watch housewives and soap operas all day, these people are actually waaaaaaaaaaay better off at this point.

- plain and simple; do not put a tv in your bedroom if you have sleeping paralysis in your bedroom. it promotes laziness. Take that flat screen hd tv or whatever you have out the room! thats what familly rooms are for! im an interior designer, trust me. YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE A TV IN YOUR BEDROOM TO MAKE IT NICE AND LUXURIOUS

- AVOID SLEEPING ON YOUR BACK. I THINK EVERYONE HAS A POSITION THAT THEY SLEEP THAT CAUSES NIGHT TERROR. most common one is sleeping on your back..because your adding your body weight on your spine.

-If you strongly feel that it is a religious matter, which i don't think so; sleep with a rosary on and learn how to pray and ask god for assistance.. send you angel to protect you and guide you. and also ask for forgiveness on your sins.
- Do not eat before you go to bed ( avoid eating anything past 7pm unless your are not going to bed early)
- build inner confidence . trust your self and trust god.. when you have an episode for the most part you will be lucky if someone catches up and wake you out of this misery..for the most part if you are alone the best thing you can do is to use your sense of awareness and develop a shield for safety against panicking. the less you panic the more control you will have and the quicker you ll wake up.

if you follow my steps i guaranty you , that you will kill this bad habit so remember;
1- Be fearless against it - it cannot harm you
2-exercise frequentlly , try three times a week at least or more depending on your capacity
3-avoid sleeping in a bad position like your back
4-when you wake up , get off the bed and get busy. no more sleep
5-Pray pray pray. develop a relationship with the father
6-do not eat late..no late night snacks, no dinner..maybe a glass of milk.
7-get the tv out of your room to avoid laziness
8- learn your in's and out's...if you sleep with someone next to you, alert them to wake you up when you are having a sleeping paralysis episode, you may be shaking and mumbling when you are panicking.
9- if you have any questions or comment let me know.. i also do take advise because it happens to me when i go against my steps listed..lol..

I experienced this a lot as a

I experienced this a lot as a teenager, and realised that it is an attack from the devil because of one episode I had when I prayed and I heard a growling noise as I rebuked it, this made me realise it is an attack from the enemy and that demons are doing it to scare us. I haven't had any more though and I have heard a lot of people who have this, say that it has stopped since they were baptised, and I would say it stopped around the same time I was baptised as well.

AHHH

I have suffered through this many times. I have a question for you tho, my eyes are open wide r urs? i have seen a little demon angel missing the top half of her skull grining at me. I have been pinned to the bed and slowly what felt like i was being entered until i screamed for god and a blaze of sunshine shot from inside me and all the dark lil fu*krs were vanished and many others all of which i forced my eyes open. with the demon angel i mentioned before i literally pried myself up and it turned into a ball of what looked like translucent flys and a spider and zipped out the door i didnt open my eyes to chase after it when i got standing cuz they were open! I am not religious at least not till recently when my wife went thru some crazy health issues and ended up in busy ICU i lived in the waiting room for two months it would change anyones outloook honestly. anyways just curious if your eyes are open when this happens and yeah I already been to shrink pass flying colors he mentioned this but i think im missing some signs? I have experience it from birth and done alot of drugs NO bad trip ive ever had could compare where talking giant misquto bad trips are like chillin with friends compared this happening? have a good nite eh (*_*)

i have had this experienced many of time on witch i have felt two presence in the room, but this time was way different. this time i came from from work and i went into my daughter's room and felt asleep in her bed (in her room) so i know that when you are tired this paralyzed dream will happen but when it did happened this is what happened. i felt that i woke up and i was paralyzed i tried to start moving but couldn't (like always) but i did started moving but very slowly and in the dream i saw that i got up from bed (very slowly) and i started moving towards the door (still very slowly) and i looked to the side and there is a mirror and what i saw was me moving slowly and a man that i have never seen before was holding me back and as soon as i saw him i woke up right back in the bed but when i did i was still paralyzed again and this time i couldn't even move and then i finnaly woke up. so am guessing i saw the ghost that my family feels when they are in the house by them self's. now i do believe in ghosts but i choose to ignore them. but the whole experienced was very weird something like i never seen before but the best thing to do that i believe is to ignore it because I've done my research and is just a dream, but if u choose to take it to heart is gonna keep happening, well i don't know if will keep happening but it helps me! i think the best to do is ignore it and keep living your life like normal because that's all you have left after going threw this experiences!

This has happen to me twice!

This has happen to me twice! The first time was when I was at my house by my self I woke and I couldn't move? It was pitch black! I closed my eyes and prayed then fell asleep again. I woke up like 10 min later and could move again. I ask my mom if that has ever happen to her and she said it has my big sister said it has happen to her too? That all happen when I was like 16 but just like two days ago It happen again I woke up like at 3am and tried to move but I couldn't and I even tired to reach for my girlfriend and call out her name for help but I couldn't and nothing came out of my mouth! But a few minutes later I could move again and felt like somebody was watching me. The next day I got on my phone and tired to figure out what was happen and thank god I found this site and realize that it wants anything to crazy!!!
