Teaching Storytelling

Once upon a time, a long time ago, before computers, before cars, before the wheel, television, radio, and the telephone their existed the need for entertainment. Face it, after hauling the wood, burning it, harvesting the crops, caring for each other, people needed something to do. What do you think they did in these leisure moments?

Feathers, Fur, Skin, and Scales

PART 1:

All of the animals of the world have some kind of body covering.

Some things have feathers, some have fur or hair, some have skin, and some have scales.

Think of examples of animals with fur or hair, or feathers, or skin, or scales.

Use the photos and cards on your desk to find an animal with feathers, one with fur or hair, one with skin, and one with scales.

Are there any cards with animals who have feathers and scales, or fur and skin? Make a separate place for those.

How are your parents like this man and woman? What story can you tell about these two kids in relation to their parents? How are they like you?

Human Deformity/Science As Storytelling

Deformity -An affliction in which some part of the body is misshapen or malformed.

Even though we are all different, we are all the same. We as human beings share many things in common. What might some of those things be? But, many times we are not physically the same as others. Sometimes something physical, emotional or mental, makes us vastly different from others.
