HippoCampus

HippoCampus is the host and currator for resources developed and promoted by the NROC Project. NROC uses feedback from both students and educators to improve their tools and keep them evolving to meet changing educational demands. Their collection includes resources from Khan Academy, PhET, Art of Problem Solving, NOAA, Dallas Learning Solutions, SiaTech, and NROC's own library. They span a variety of subjects, including topics in Math, Natural Science, Social Science, and Humanities. One of HippoCampus's more unique offerings is resources in Religion, which seem to be few and far between. The minor inconvenience one has to navigate to use HippoCampus is that there is no way to filter out the lower level materials and get to a list of exlusively college-level resources. However, the number of topics for any one subject is not too lengthy or overwhelming, and it's easy to ascertain from the titles what content is suitable for what level (i.e. Physics B for AP vs Organic Chemistry). While the interface takes some getting used to (the Teaching Blog and Links sections are burried low on the page, well below the columns you're expecting to look at), HippoCampus has a few uniquely user-friendly features. Perhaps the greatest highlight is the "Textbook Correlations" tab. If the textbook you're using in class is listed on the website, you can access a list of topics by page number and the HippoCampus resources which correlate. Effectively, this feature can take a traditional textbook and turn it into a blended resource. The Correlations are also a great resource for students looking to reinforce what they learned in the textbook, reinforce a concept, or self-teach.
