Deb Hazen Introduction and Index Page

Introduction:

I teach a combined 5/6 class at Lansdowne Friends School. It is my hope that students leave my class having a sense that education is something that they engage in with others, not something that happens to them. I want students to appreciate and be curious about the diversity of thought and perspective that naturally exists in any classroom. I want students to be intrigued by their own questions and thought processes, not focused on figuring out some answer that they think I want to hear. I want students to understand how they learn, what their strenghts are and how they can use those strengths to support weaker areas. I want students to self advocate, exercise agency and know that they are valuable members of their communities.
