education as a non zero sum game
Its an appealing vision, but also one that runs counter to a longstanding tradition of zero sum games in education, of students competing with one another for a small number of prizes rather than cooperating on the assumption that one person's gain is not inevitably someone else's loss ("the pie can be made bigger"). Where does that tradition come from and how can it be lessened?
