constraint as scaffold

The poem and comment I recently posted speak to this shift -- thinking of formal systems as enabling constraints, not full stops on the horizon of expanding possibility.  So, the poem can be read (and perhaps written?) not as a rejection of the formal system of English, in this case, or of language instruction, but of the necessary creativity engaged by their uptake.
