Flippancy and apology

Paul apologizes extensively/abjectly for "flippant" comment. Is an example of risks, and benefits?, of group therapy? Maybe pharmacotherapy not only avoids "public displays of emotion" but also reduces risks, and benefits?, of interpersonal misunderstanding?
