One Thought about Your Model

That there is a potential parallel between mental health and education is very appealing to me.  It is certain that I am more comfortable in a school building than a doctor’s or therapist’s office.  In an educational environment, I also feel more at ease asking for help from friends or faculty.  There is usually a protocol for seeking assistance.

It is generally accepted that students will encounter challenges with some of the material in their courses.  Yet it is not seen as a sign of weakness that student’s seek help, rather as the mark of a mature student.  I would like to see the same perspective adopted with respect to mental health.  Currently, it seems to me that the appearance of weakness or helplessness is a significant portion of the stigma associated with mental health.
