When The Humanities and Science Collide

The humanities are riddled with comparisons to biological evolution, but maybe this only seems novel when you look at it from the traditional dichotomized academic point of view. Before designations such as “Science” and “English” were part of our language, would an individual find it strange that stories and nature had similarities? Most likely not.

The piano is an amazing instrument. The play of masterful fingers over ivory keys produces everything from jazz to Tchaikovsky, and a great musician coaxes from the otherwise silent vessel unimaginable beauty. It is for this reason I resent being called a piano key.

Children are often given less credit than they deserve. I myself am guilty of this offense, as I believe we all are. Perhaps we forget what it was like to be young and curious, reading whatever we could get our hands on, picking up on adult conversations those involved were sure went over our heads, maybe even the occasional, giggly eavesdropping sessions we knew were so wrong (but so fun.) To this day, I underestimate the mental abilities of my younger sister. An avid reader and learner, she thirsts for knowledge beyond the scope of her fifth grade classroom. This is especially true because of the MCAS.
