Serendip is an independent site partnering with faculty at multiple colleges and universities around the world. Happy exploring!
I didn't even think about what masks have taken away for those who rely on reading lips and you can not even see people's lips with their masks on. This article talks about a woman who makes dozens of these face masks with clear panels with the purpose of helping those with hearing loss or partial hearing loss to communicate with their peers during a pandemic.
Whoops, just realized I forgot to post the link to the music video from class. Here it is!

Here's a cool sign language TikTok style dance-ish post I came across the other day.

I find it interesting that the condition Peter Singer describes as so unbareable that it is a just reason to kill a child with disability is the condition which artist Riva Lehrer suffers from (spina bifida). Further proof that if he actually interacted meaningfully with the disabled community he'd understand the flaws in his logic...
I just wanted to point out that Kleege, (someone probably without depth perception) was able to explain to me, (a person who has depth perception very rarely), the whole concept of depth perception and why I seem to have it occasionally better than any 3-D person has been able to explain it. I think this exemplfies the point we made in class the other day: it is almost impossible to truthfully experience someone elses way of living. I think I will be forever greatful for her explaination. However, there is one thing I would like to point out. Kleeges workarounds for depth do not always work. The clues that she suggests are not always available so people sometimes have to go on memory for the way things are supposed to be.
