How to Build a Home
An essay on the histoy and present of Bryn Mawr College
A month or so ago, I discussed the topic of the environment of Bryn Mawr’s campus and its relation to its students. I came to the conclusion that the college, while attempting to support the ideas of creativity and individuality, actually hindered this very individuality in trying to upkeep its image as an aristocratic college. Personally, I believe that this solely sophisticated and traditional idea of high society is obsolete. Times have changed, and the student body no longer reflects the original projections of M. Carey Thomas’ idealized college; we are cracking her constricting mold of cisgender, white, upper class women.
Your Money is Foul and So Is Capitalism: Why We Need to be Anticapitalist
“Globalization colonizes women’s as well as men’s lives around the world,
and we need an anti-imperialist, anticapitalist, and contextualized feminist
project to expose and make visible the various, overlapping forms of
sub- jugation of women’s lives.”
Attempting to Unravel Ecological Intelligence
As species, humans have reached a point of comfort at a superficial level. We’ve essentially driven biogeochemical systems to sustain global life to our comfort, which was a unfortunate path to follow due to our current crisis of dealing with global warming. However, we’ve now reached a point where humans are moving forward with generations without making any significant progress towards changing onto a different route. Remaining on the same route has ultimately disconnected humans to our own roots of origins. Therefore, we need to develop something new and innovative to get us, as a specie, to progress.
I’ve been putting off writing this reflection because it means I’ve come to the end of this incredible experience. But seeing as it’s due in a couple of hours, I guess I should begin the end. Wow… I’m sitting here tearing up. Good lord, you guys are always making me cry.
How do I even begin to express my gratitude?

Fostering Ecological Intelligence
When I first saw the topic “changing our story: shifting identities, altering environments”, I was confused. “Identity” and “environment” are two familiar topics that we talk about in everyday life. But I have never thought deeply into the two topics, especially the relationship between identity and environment. At first, the readings are more focused on identity and social environment, about how the person’s identity is shaped by the environment and the inner motivation. Later, the notion of environment was expanded to the nature environment, and the more focused on the interdependent relationship between human and nature. The topic was something that everyone was familiarized with but seldom digs deep into it.
