Why do you think Tuck begins the piece by emphasizing the concept and experience of home?

What do you make of her formatting the piece as a letter?  How is this different from Duckworth's format?  How does it shape audience expectations?  How does it empower audience?

How are the rights of indigenous peoples important to a consideration of empowerment with respect to people from dominant groups and nations/contexts, as well?  See p. 415, as well, for a linked discussion about how the naturalization of a colonialist, oppressive context contributes to a forgetting of the political roots of individuals' struggles.

Glass Staircase, Labratory in Park, English House, Morris Woods, Campus Center Parking Lot.

1. I felt happiest on the Nature Trail (1), followed by the Meditation Room in Woodside (2), the front sitting area in the GIAC (3), the South Lot (4), and the organic chemistry lab (5).

Here are the different spots on campus ranked from where I felt happiest to where I felt least happy: Chem lab in Park, Morris Woods, English House I, Campus Center parking lot, and the glass staircase in Dalton.

From happiest to least happy: Nature trail, multipurpose room in the GIAC, meditation room at Woodside Cottage, South Lot, and the organic chemistry lab in the KINSC.

2. What influenced your comfort level? Why did you rank the locations the way you did?

So this ended up being a bit difficult, because there were a lot of choices to be made in figuring out my take (and speaking for plants) on these locations.

Ranked in order of where I felt the happiest to where I felt least happy: Morris Woods, Biology Lab, English House, Dalton staircase, Campus Center parking lot.

             I went to go see my brother, Justin, at Colorado College. As I walked on the campus, I immediately realized that the majority of students were white or appeared to be white. The college is located near an extremely white town, Colorado Springs. I met my brothers’ friends, who all seemed white, but when we got into the car to go to someone’s house, I was introduced to this womyn who had darker skin than the rest of his friends.

            She said, with a smile and chuckle, “Justin knows more about black history than I do. He knows all about the civil rights movement and I don’t know that much.”

            Later on, my brother commented on her in particular, “Isn’t she great? She’s so down to earth. I love hanging out with her.”

In order of where I felt happieset to where I felt least happy: Morris Woods, Mineralogy Lab, English House, Dalton, Campus Center parking lot.
