I really appreciate the opportunity to learn from your project that is so illuminating. It concerns educating young children about disabilities and inclusion. I was particularly struck by the way you have thought through the language that you used. The emphasis on thoughtful language choices, like using "typical" instead of "normal," truly resonated with me, highlighting the profound impact words have on shaping our perceptions. I learned from you that this is a much better choice of words, because we want to avoid implying that there is a developmental standard that everyone should try to meet. Your project had me reflect in a new way on the importance of our collective word choices in shaping perceptions. I also learned about the concept of "learned helplessness" from your project. It was a new idea for me, and it is so insightful. I know that now I will continue to consciously use language that fosters understanding and respect. I also really appeciated the different forms of media that you chose to use, the presentation was straigt forward and i could see how it could be easily adaptable to a range of ages wanting to teach. Your personal connection to this topic, influenced by your mom’s work as a special education teacher, clearly enriched the depth and authenticity of the content. Great job!!!
