It's Genetic
The design of this gallery is aimed at encouraging conversation involving both immediate and reflective thought, individual and collective. Rather than starting by reading comments of others, please first put your own immediate thoughts in the on-line forum below. This way, we'll all be able to see how much similarity and difference there is in our initial reactions and interpretations of the images. Then go back to see what others have said about this image and add whatever new thoughts you have as a result of that. More general thoughts about the collection of images and/or this exhibit as a whole are welcome in the on-line forum on the exhibit home page.

oddly familiar
I know I've seen that guy before, reminds me of someone. It's genetic alright, and if you stop thinking you pay.like me dear ole schizophrenic mum couldn't think for herself, killed by my own dads thoughts. O i'm just crazy. it's genetic, don't worry about the truth. Your artwork invokes alot of emotion for me, very personal.
Mental Illness
I have it! It's genetic with me. It's unfathomable pain in which one feels the only way to remove it is to remove self. Won't remove self because I may have to live this life over. I won't take that chance as this one is 2/3's over. Only those who have it understand the depth of pain. Feel very trapped and always trying to get out of the trap. Makes you want to gnaw your foot off.
People with mental illness
People with mental illness live inside their own personal hell. They are unafraid of any other Hell that may come in an afterlife because they cannot fathom anything worse than what they experience daily here on Earth.

I get the feeling of confusion and the demon makes me think of the blame or inner demon that brought forth these disorders. I think of barriers when looking at this picture.
Inner Demons
These are the inner demons that can alter our minds. In one way or another we all have demons within we have to deal with.

reaction
For me, this seems to represent the fear of facing a mental illness. It is hard to accept that you may have one, and sometimes harder to accept the measures taken to overcome them. Why can't one be mentally strong enough to battle this on their own? Most often, such a battle cannot be fought alone.
