  In class I was personally struck by the suggestion of Anne Dalke to follow parodies of genres. Not only does it sound interesting, but, in studying parodies I feel that one can better understand the "parodied."

We seem to like the idea of a novel, a graphic novel, and a movie (or something other than print). Besides the wonderful examples (that I will be very grateful when or if they are posted here) suggested by others during class, I'd like to suggest the following for each of the remaining four ideas (since I was in the villainy group and we have already made concrete suggestions and some groups have already suggested concrete examples that I would go with as well):

Identity

Novel: The Funhouse by Dean Koontz

Graphic Novel: Blankets by Craig Thompson or Maus by Art Spielgelman

Third (short fiction): We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

Mysteries (Sherlock Holmes)

1st story: The Hound of Baskerville

2nd story: The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Mary Russell

Movie: They Might Be Giants

Graphic Novel: The Life and Times of the Shmoo by Al Capp
