I understand talk therapy to

I understand talk therapy to work as a series of inputs to the brain, via the usual physical structures.  These inputs are interpreted by the cognitive unconscious and the storyteller.  What is special about these inputs is that they are designed to target storytelling activity and inspire introspection and revision.  Perhaps by altering the existing neural circuitry.   Cyril Herry et al. claim their “findings indicate that switching between distinct behavioral states can be triggered by selective activation of specific neuronal circuits integrating sensory and contextual information.”  I think that there is a two-way path between neural circuits and behavior.  The storyteller is capable of traversing that road.
