One might also go to Steven Pinker's The Language Instinct. Or reflect oneself on such phenomena as "I know what I mean but I can't find words for it", or slips of the tongue, or children before they acquire language. Or the process of language acquisition itself. If one isn't thinking something, why would one go to the enormous trouble of acquiring ways to communicate it to others?
