While reading the article, I came upon this quote: "Charter schools...were never intended to serve all children."
Who were charter schools intended to serve? Were they meant only for children who are easier to take care of? Are they supposed to be applying theory to a small number of students in order to see if that theory is possible to implement in an actual school setting? What is the goal of charter schools, and what are they doing with their funding to reach that goal? Charter schools have a lot of flexibility when it comes to how they use thier spending, and they should be more transparent about their spending choices. If public schools could look at where high-performing charters are spending their funds, public schools may be able to use that to make thier own school better. Education shouldn't be about holding onto what works best, it should be about sharing what works best. That's the only way we'll be able to make education as a whole better.
