Instructions for Preparing your Final Portfolio
and Self-Evaluation
All course work is due by 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 16.
I'm asking you to prepare a portfolio, in which you will collect and reflect on all the spoken and written work you have done for this course. The portfolio invites you to chronicle what has happened in your evolution both as a writer and a speaker in class, and to contribute to and assist us in evaluating your work. So--
- Gather together everything you've written for this class: the original copies of your three four-page papers and my responses to those, along with print-outs of all of your postings in our on-line forum. Include as well a description of your final performance, and a copy of your final 12-pp. project (the latter of these should also be posted on-line). Arrange the material in a folder, chronologically, back to front.
- Review your participation in our group work: how present-and-contributing have you been in our discussions? How many classes have you missed? What roles have you assumed in our group dynamics, both in-class and on-line? How and what have you contributed to the learning of others?
- Review also your written work. Be specific and descriptive, but also evaluative: how much effort have you put into the web postings and each of your essays? What can you say about the quality of the final products? What have you learned in this class? Where were you when we began, and where have you "moved" to?
- Complete this checklist, and place it in the front of your portfolio.
I very much look forward to seeing what you come up with, as well as what you have to say about it.
Thanks to you all, for what you have taught me in the work we have been doing together--
Anne
