Self Evaluation and Reflection

I had no idea what to expect walking into this “Ecological Imaginings” class--would I be writing beautiful prose about the natural world? Would we investigate issues such as hydraulic fracturing? Would we be “imagining” what the world would look like in 5, 10, 50 years? So as I was eagerly awaiting to find out the “goal” or “purpose” of this class, I was thoroughly surprised that we spent the first ten minutes of the course alone and silent in Morris Woods. Throughout the course I realized that the goal or purpose of the class was shaped and change by the students, the professor, and the different spaces we used as a classroom.

Final Reflection

Spring 2015

As someone who both has experienced city schooling in my own schooling career and who hopes to become a city school teacher themselves, this class has been very important to my orientation as a potential future educator.

Today the kids had music class again. When I went to their class they were using the recorders again.

The students are playing a lot more advanced songs with different notes. They are practicing for a performance they are having!

Today the students were working on their grammar worksheets when I came in.

I walked around the classroom and helped each student with any help they needed.

Self-Evaluation and Reflection

I began this semester hoping to have a space to discuss and listen to ideas about what multicultural education meant. As the semester began, I was fresh out of my 360 on Global Health, missing the educational perspective on the issues we had been discussing the entirety of the fall semester, such as neoliberalism, imperialism, and globalization.

Today I went to class and worked with the students on their independent work again. Each student was working on their workbook, a handout, or an exam. I was told not to help with the exam but I could help with anyone else.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that Ms. G was testing students on reading (timed) one-on-one while they all work.
