Writing a short story was definitely outside of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed pushing myself to write this. I thought about the many different concepts we talked about in class, and attempted to integrate those into a cohesive story. Some of the topics (derived from class discussions and midterm projects) include:
- Crip time - Ellen Samuel's different representations of crip time
- Dealing with pain (pain management): I thought about Lily's midterm project, specifically the medication pill bottles lying on the table
- Disability as a superpower
- Anxiousness surrounding job stability as a person with a disability
- Accessibility concerns
- How small movements become difficult
