Recent Events in Education News:
- Betsy Devos' confirmation postponed - heavily contended
- 2nd hearing denied
- Swearing in Jan. 31st
- School Improvement Grant considered a big failure, federal program that costs a lot of money was studied in a way that it was considered a huge failure on behalf of Obama administration
- Every Student Succeeds Act pushed back (ESSA fixes the things wrong with No Child Left Behind (bi-partisan). Not as elaborate, places less importance on state testing, etc.)
- Black Lives Matter action week, teaching group, Working Educators Caucus (WE Caucus) -- change in curriculum for the week, not required but encouraged
- New Jersey going through a funding issue, to strengthen their progressive equalizing policy Abbott Program.
