This article expands upond the faults of insistutuionalization that we see in Good Kings Bad Kings. It talks from a personal perspective and drives home how being in these places, the gulag, can take away agency of people with disability. Instead of reinforcing these gulags as the primary solution, with funding being placed to perpetuate these systems, it would be more conductive to the wellbeing of disabiled individuals if funds were redirected to accessibility and making all areas more suitable, instead of a separate place entirely. This helps integrate and avoid isolation of disabiled people. Currect systems in place only serve as a easy band-aid solution to avoid the real problem of disabiled people being excluded and segregated from people classified as able-bodied. It's also important to consider that insitutions take away disabled people's feeling of having a home. In a personal home, you have things explicitly yours and unique that's absent in insitutions.
