in defense of categories

i very much appreciate the categories because they give a taste of the point within the web itself. it's helpful especially without the first two sentences.

for some indecisive students, it challenges them to consider their full post rather than blurt out thoughts all willy nilly. i very much appreciate organization and i hope it doesn't make me feel like a stickler.

i don't think it will limit students, but rather orient them. i can understand how the categories may be a point of contention, but a brief conversation in the classroom to define the categories (and maybe, as an exercise, challenge them) will help students realize that the important part of this process is their thoughts and that what we are trying to do is help them germinate in a comprehensible fashion.
