Today is the mid-autumn festival, a Chinese traditional festival. On this day, families reunion and enjoy the full moon at night and there’s something that can never be left out – moon cake. Moon cake, a kind of dessert with flaky pastry holding a variety of fillings which shapes like a full moon is kind of sweet and cloying. There’re always tons of moon cakes piled up at home when it’s approaching mid-autumn festival, all kinds of flavors, and many are even made of ice-cream. Moon cake is a stuff that I have to meet every day, almost from the beginning to the end of September. Since there’s lots of sugar in it, it’s sweet and cloying, so I have never liked it. It always seems to be a disaster to see it.
Everything has changed in this mid-autumn festival, no piled moon cakes any more. I thought it should have been a relief, but when I met moon cake today, instead of disgusting, I felt sweet. I can’t help but had a try, encountering the treacly stuffing.
Same moon cake, same taste as it was back home. Different Place, different feelings...
