Welcome, Empowering Learners -- in the course and in the world!

Designed to help you become a resource for the self-empowerment of others in a range of educational settings, this is a course that explores health and healing as central, rather than marginal, to the process of learning in and outside of formal schooling.  The course takes a multidisciplinary view of the relation of health, education, and their integration,  defining health literacies as encompassing 1) sound medical knowledge and practice, 2) community building, 3) innovative educational practices, and 4) research. Through this course, you will explore and gain conceptual and practical tools for taking a strengths-based, rather than a deficit-based, approach to the struggles and growth of individuals and communities towards new knowledge and healing.

What do you think of this quote?

Words of wisdom from our beloved friend Ram Dass, Love Serve Remember

"When I don't know what to do, I surrender."

And a practice -

Say to yourself, aloud if possible:

"I am loving awareness.
I am loving awareness.
I am loving awareness.
I am loving awareness...."

Repeat slowly as many times as needed. Then a few more just for good measure.
