five days a week from 9 am to 4 pm at at Bryn Mawr College or Haverford College. Bryn Mawr and Haverford faculty and K-12 educators share perspectives on how to enhance science and mathematics education throughout the curriculum and at all levels of the educational enterprise. Among the major themes of the Institutes are
- the theory and practice of a discovery-based approach to education
- bridging the disciplinary gap between science/mathematics and other areas of the curriculum
- valuing and making use of classroom diversity
- acquiring skill in and exploring productive use of information technology
- developing effective collaborations between K-12 and college/university educators
Institute participants receive a stipend and development grant to implement and report on curriculum changes resulting from the Institute experience. Interested teachers may apply to one or more Institutes. Additional information about particular institutes is available from the links above.
