This web exhibit was first built in 2000 by Patricia Anne Kinser, Haverford College, under the direction of Paul Grobstein, Bryn Mawr College. The updated version of Comparative Neuroanatomy and Intelligence is now online at http://serendipstudio.org/exchange/brains. This old version has been archived in place, and will continue to be available for teachers and students who are using it.

A Sagittal View: Right Down the Middle!

Human MidSagittal

Here is a closer midsagittal view of the human brain. The blue lines represent where we can slice- either in the forebrain or the hindbrain. If you want to see a cross-section of the forebrain, click on the right portion of the image. If you'd rather see the hindbrain, click on the left half of the image.

Or, instead, you can explore some of the other brains by clicking on a button below:

Let's slice the monkey brain

Let's slice the cat brain

Let's slice the rat brain

What's the point? On towards magnification

Huh? Can we start over?
