MENTAL HEALTH

For the purpose of facilitating general understanding and exploration of intellectual and social policy issues. These materials are not intended as or suitable for individuals needing assistance with specific mental health problems. For such situations, people should contact local mental health agencies, doctors, or other health care professionals. To assist with locating needed help, we have compiled a list of some access points for seeking professional mental health assistance.

Alternative Treatment

"Alternative" is an inevitably evolving category by which we mean methods of approach to characterization and therapy differing from those more generally accepted and endorsed in our our culture at the present time. As elsewhere, these resources are intended to encourage and facilitate discussion on general issues of mental health. They should not be regarded as endorsements of perspectives or therapies, either in general or for the needs of particular individuals.

These resources lists are being compiled by Christine Tubiak, working with Paul Grobstein, Department of Biology, and James Martin, School of Social Work and Social Research, at Bryn Mawr College. Suggestions for additions to the list are welcome, as are more general thoughts about how to most effectively make available information, and promote conversation, about issues of mental health.
