Bryn Mawr College, with support from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, invites applications for a two-year research / teaching postdoctoral fellowship in computational methods in science starting September 2005 for individuals with graduate training in a natural science or mathematics.  A Ph.D. at the time of appointment is required. 

The fellow will be expected to conduct research in collaboration with a Bryn Mawr faculty member, and teach a course in his/her area of expertise during the spring semester of the first year and each semester of the second year. By virtue of their training in computational methods, the fellow will serve as an important collaborator and resource for current faculty members developing new courses such as Bioinformatics, Ecological Modeling, Emergent Systems, Visualization: Art and Science, and Geographic Information Systems and Science for the College's new minor in Computational Methods in Science.  The fellow will receive research and travel allowances to attend professional meetings in addition to an annual salary of $42,000 plus benefits (medical insurance, FICA, pension). The fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in programs sponsored by the College's Center for Science in Society.

Early in the application process, candidates are requested to identify a potential Bryn Mawr faculty mentor in one of the natural sciences (biology, chemistry, computer science, environmental studies, geology, neural and behavioral sciences) or in mathematics, whom they will contact to develop an outline of reseach and teaching.
