1. Starting Virtual PC Application

• open applications folder on the desktop
• open Virtual PC alias
• Windows 98 should appear on the monitor

2. Open NeuroSim Application

• click on Start with left mouse button (lower left corner)
• scroll up to programs and then over to NeuroSim 3 for Windows
• click on one of the NeuroSim module to activate module
• NOTE: TO SWITCH FROM WINDOWS TO MAC OPERATING SYSTEM HOLD DOWN COMMAND (OPEN APPLE) KEY

3. Brief Overview of a NeuroSim Module

• Each module contains three windows
  • setup - controls parameters of the experiment
  • results - graphic display of experimental results
  • notebook - laboratory notebook function
• General Information
  • DO NOT SAVE YOUR FILES ON THE HARD DISK. I WILL ERASE THEM!!!
  • Save your data and modified files to your personal zip disk.
  • Openning sample files:
    click on file menu - open
    click on open folder in toolbar
    double click on sample folder under Folders box
    open appropriate file under file name box
    
  • Setup Window
    • All text that is highlighted in read can be changed by experimentor (you)
    • clicking on start runs experiment using user-defined inputs and switches to results window
  • Results Window
    • Important: To change axes parameters and modify some lay-out options, graphs must be cleared (click on clear button) of all traces
