Travel Information

Bryn Mawr College is easily accessible by car and train, and there is a rail link from Philadelphia's International Airport to Bryn Mawr via Center City Philadelphia.

Traveling by Train

Amtrak has frequent service to Philadelphia's 30th Street Station and from there you can transfer to a direct commuter train to Bryn Mawr on the area's mass transit provider, SEPTA. However, Bryn Mawr College will be providing transport to and from 30th Street Station for those participants who will be taking either one or both of the following trains:

Arriving Monday 6/04/01

Train number 145 departing from Springfield (MA) at 10:00AM and arriving at Philadelphia 30th St (PA) on Monday at 2:58PM. The total fare for an Unreserved Coach Seat (one-way) is $49.00

Departing Friday 6/08/01

Train number 56 departing from Philadelphia 30th St (PA) at 9:25AM arriving at Springfield (MA) at 2:40PM. The total fare for a Full Fare Coach Seat (one-way) is $49.00

Please be aware that Amtrak fares are subject to change without notice. It is also possible that the only seat left at this fare is currently being booked by another passenger or that the train may sell out and tickets may be unavailable at the time you choose to book. For further information, please visit http://reservations.amtrak.com

If you choose not to avail of the following services the following information will help you get to the college.

R5 Paoli/Thorndale Local

Buy your SEPTA train ticket before you get on the train if the ticket office is open, otherwise you could be charged an extra $2.00 on the train. From Philadelphia's Market East Station (11th and Market Streets), Penn Center/Suburban Station (16th Street and J.F.K. Boulevard), or Amtrak's 30th Street Station (30th and Market Streets), board SEPTA's R-5 Paoli/Thorndale Local or Bryn Mawr Local train to Bryn Mawr (19-22 minute ride). The train schedule, if you want to pick one up at the station, is the royal blue R-5 Paoli/Downingtown schedule. It runs from 6:15 am until 12:15 am on weekdays and from 7:45 am until 12:15 am on weekends.

The campus is a five-minute walk from the Bryn Mawr train station. You need to be on the side of the station without the ticket office and the bank and will not have to cross the tracks as you get off the train if you are coming from Center City. Take the stairs by the station under the track if you're on the other side. From the Bryn Mawr station, walk north on Morris (straight ahead as you get off the train) for two blocks. You will cross Montgomery Avenue (take the lights seriously - traffic travels very fast here) - the Bryn Mawr College sign will be on your left.

Cost, one-way, is $4.25 peak and $3.75 off-peak. If you have luggage and wish to take a taxi from the Bryn Mawr station to the College, you may call Bennett Taxi Service at 610-525-1770 on a direct-line phone located on the train platform. The taxi service operates 7 days a week from 5:30 am until 12:30 am.
