During class on Thursday, December 9, each group will have 20 minutes both to "present their book" to the rest of the class and to ask for responses to several "real questions" that putting together the book has raised for you all.

By 12:30 on Friday, December 17, the group should post its REVISED INTRODUCTION AND TABLE OF CONTENTS in the paper posting area; by the same deadline, each of you should post your individual paper at the same site.

In addition, by the same deadline, each of you has due a portfolio, in which we're asking you to collect and reflect on the spoken and written work you have done for this course. The portfolio invites you to chronicle what has happened in your evolution both as a writer and a speaker in class, and to contribute to and assist us with the evaluation of your work. So--

Gather together everything you’ve written for this class: copies of each of your postings on the course website, the marked copies of your first two papers and first draft of your book "introduction." Include as well a copy of the revised introduction to your book and your final paper. Arrange the material in a folder, chronologically, back to front.

Review all you’ve gathered together in the portfolio; ruminate for a while on what you’re seeing as you do so. Then write a short essay tracing where you were when we began this process, where you are now, and what’s been happening in between:

• Review your participation in our group work: how frequently have you come to class, how present-and-contributing have you been in our discussions, both large and small, what role have you assumed in our group dynamics?

• Review also your written work. Be specific and descriptive, but also evaluative: how much effort have you put into each of these drafts and their revisions, and what can you say about the quality of the final products?
