Course Description:

Star Biology: A college prepartory course involving projects, laboratory investigations and lecture. Aligned with the Curriculum Framework of the School District of Philadelphia, topics covered include microscope, chemistry of life, plant and animal cell, homostasis and transport, genetics, evolution, taxonomy and ecology. Prerequisities: Placement Test.

Rapid Biology: A college prepartory course involving projects, laboratory investigations and lecture. Aligned with the Curriculum Framework of the School District of Philadelphia, topics covered include microscope, chemistry of life, plant and animal cell, homostasis and transport, genetics, evolution, taxonomy and ecology. Prerequisities: None

Environmental Science: A course involving the science and social impacts of human life on the Earth. Students who are interested in topics such as recycling, food chains, biosphere, biomes, population growth, natural resources, waste management, pollution control are invited to take this course after completing biology.

Genetics: A upper level course that is text and internet based that will heighten the student's understanding of genetics and explore some of the cutting edge research in this field. Prerequisities: B or better in Biology; Chemistry concurrently or completed with a B or better.

Anatomy and Physiology: A systems approach to studying the human body. Laboratory investigations include models and dissections. Prerequisties: B or better in Biology. A topic of interest is Brain and Behavior. Supplemental material provided by Brain and Behavior Institute 2001.
