OBJECTIVE: SO YOU WANT TO BE A PARENT???


Preparation for parenthood is not just a matter of reading books and decorating the nursery. Here are 18 simple tasks for teenagers to prepare themselves for the real-life experiences of being a mother or father.

GRADE LEVEL: High School 9-12

  1. Have students discuss and try to come up with their own parent simulations by talking to parents.

  2. Students will use the internet to study all the different stages of development.

  3. Students will compile of list and research the costs of raising an infant thru adult.

  4. Have students take home Baby Think It Over doll.

MATERIALS:

baby equipment, calculator, baby dolls, pillows, weights.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

  1. Students can compile a license test that asks are they ready to be a parent.

  2. Have students observe children of various ages.

  3. Have students complete a logue from the experiences of the simulation doll.
