COOPERATIVE LEARNING
- Cooperative learning is a strategy which allows children to learn by working together.
- This type of learning places an emphasis on individual learning styles. Every person learns best through one sense, than the other senses. Visual learners prefers seeing information. Auditory learners learn best when information is verbal. Tactile learners learn trough touching, and kinestheic learners learn through movement and "doing".
- Working together, children share ideas, knowledge, skills, etc., in a way that is non-threatening and usually fun.
- Cooperative learning builds social skills, and can lead to more ability to solve problems in a more constructive manner.
- The computer and the internet give a diverse selection of subjects/areas of interest/different presentation styles/levels of difficulity. The use of the internet can expand a child's view of the world, of others, and of herself/himself.
- The used of cooperative learning combined with "hands-on-activities, have allow children to make discoveries they might not have made.
