RESPONSE:

1. WHAT IS INTELLIGENCE? INTELLIGENCE CAN BE RELATIVE TO THE OBSERVER.... INTELLIGENCE CAN BE THE ADAPTATION OF IDEAS WITH A PRACTICAL APPLICATION... INTELLIGENCE CAN BE THE ABILITY TO SOLVE PROBLEMS!

2. EACH INDIVIDUAL OFFERS A DIFFERENT CONSTELLATION OF "INTELLIGENCES"

eg. SOCIAL SKILLS, MUSICAL ABILITY,PHYSICAL COORDINATION, ABSTRACT THINKING SKILLS,VERBAL, MECHANICAL, A RTISTIC SKILLS, ETC.

ALTHOUGH NOT ALL OF THESE MAY BE RECOGNIZED IN THE SCHOOL SETTING, EACH IS VALUABLE AND IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE TEACHER AND STUDENTS THEMSELVES TO RECOGNIZE EACH INDIVIDUAL'S STRENGTHS, WORTH TO BUILD OVERALL SELF-ESTEEM AS WELL AS RESPECT FOR OTHERS.

3. WHAT COUNTS IN SCHOOL?
a. grades
b. attendance
c. cooperation with the Teacher!

4. TRUE. THE INDIVIDUALIZATION OF EDUCATION IS IDEAL; IT IS NOT THE NORM (EXCEPT IN SPECIAL ED.) IN MOST SCHOOL DISTRICTS.

5. THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO SHOW INTELLIGENCE, DEPENDING ON THE TEACHER AND THE TOOL USED TO MEASURE THE INTELLIGENCE CAN WE SAY THAT ONLY A COUPLE COUNT!

a. The system drives the flexibility of the Teachers. If standardized tests are most significant in assessment and accountability, this is the most frequently used as a measure for intelligence.

b. Too often this is only demonstrated by the aggressive learner. What about the reluctant or the more passive learner?

6. MULTI-INTELLIGENCE IS NEEDED IN A VARIETY OF SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. BRING AS MANY AS YOU CAN IN SCHOOL.

a. Yes. Use what you have to build upon...!

7. I AGREE. WE DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE MANY WAYS THAT STUDENTS SHOW HOW INTELLIGENT THEY ARE.

a. Nor do we recognize the many ways Teachers show how intelligent they are!

b. Or how much we as Teachers don't recognize...

8. THIS IS PRETTY GOOFY!

a. But we should think about it.

b. Not Goofy : fundamental to understanding of individual human worth!

c. How can we assess Goofy? (without Donald Duck!)

THE DIVERSITIES IN INTELLIGENCE IS INDEED REPRESENTED IN ALL OF OUR SCHOOLS.

WE AS TEACHERS HAVE TO TAP INTO

THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH!
