Welcome to the Latino High School science information center

Hi I am Oscar Galvis. I was born in Bogota, Colombia, which is in South America.

I have been working as a Bilingual Science teacher for the School District of Philadelphia since 1996.

In the summer of 1998 I participated in the Brain and Behavior Institute (see Serendip.) at Bryn Mawr College, located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Here is the class picture.

I am the gentleman on the right who is wearing a white T-shirt and short pants.

Here I am with one of my colleagues at the institute, We learned how to use the computer as a teaching tool (Here are some easy "brain teasers" about the brain.)

This summer (98), I met a two-year old child with a brain disorder called West's Syndrome. which is a seizure disorder similar to epilepsy.
She came from Venezuela with her mother and one of her brothers seeking treatment. If you are able to be of help, please contact me at ogalvis@phila.k12.pa.us or ogalvis@nimbus.ocis.temple.edu.
